Have you been driven up the wall with the adage “Show, don’t tell”? What does it really mean? Is it really relevant to the stories that you want to write? How do you actually apply it in the creation of stories?
For answers to these questions, join Embody. During this hands-on workshop, you will examine some textual examples of ‘show’ and ‘tell’ and discuss what exactly each term means and when to apply either principle appropriately. Then through a series of brainstorming and writing exercises, you will experiment with different elements (such as word choice, concrete sensorial description, a point of view, and dialogue) to understand what is ‘telling’ and how to ‘show’.
By the end of the workshop, you will possess an improved understanding of ‘show’ and ‘tell’. Writing stories will become easier because you will know better how and when to ‘show’ and/or ‘tell’.
Participants must bring their writing materials and/or laptop/tablet.
Please ensure that your devices are fully charged.
Please bring your own portable chargers.
A Certificate of Participation will be issued to all participants who complete the full workshop.
Certificates will be handed out at the end of the workshop.
